One of the “victims” was a volunteer pretending to be a distraught shooting victim looking for family members as Providence doctors worked to save two simulated victims represented by advanced computer-controlled mannequins that mimic life-like qualities such as blood pressure and heart rate. The demonstration showed how hospital staff would handle three shooting victims if they were brought to the hospital for emergency care. Providence Holy Cross provides vital services for the area, Shows said, noting there are fewer and fewer trauma centers like the one available at Providence due to the high cost of maintaining the facilities and staff.
